Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Psychologist Dr. Lukas Kubicny
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
I live in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, European Union.
I LIVE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, CAN YOU STILL HELP ME?
Absolutely! I have been working with international clients online for some time. I offer online counselling via webcam, using Zoom software. Actually, most of my clients are located in Ireland. I am experienced in counseling international clients from various countries and cultures.
BUT I'M IN A DIFFERENT TIME ZONE, ARE YOU SURE?
Yes, that's not an issue. I could be speaking to you anytime during the day. My work schedule is flexible and tailored to international clients’ needs.
WHAT COUNSELLING MODEL DO YOU USE?
My theoretical orientation is Person-Centered Approach (PCA) by Carl R. Rogers. I am using a non-authoritative approach. During our sessions, we will be more like partners than me evaluating your decisions and telling you what you “have to” do. My therapeutic work can be described by these three basic attitudes:
- authenticity (I will be present as a real person, not hiding myself under unified tools and learned techniques, which may not work for everyone)
- unconditional positive regard (you will be always accepted as a growing being, not judged for your behavior)
- empathy (I will always be eager to understand you as completely as possible and I will express this understanding to you).
ARE YOU A LICENSED COUNSELLOR?
Yes, I am a licensed psychology counsellor in the Czech Republic, European Union. I have a doctorate degree in Psychology and the necessary psychotherapy training. I also receive clinical supervision of my work. I fulfill all legal requirements for being a psychology counsellor working with international clients.
CAN I USE MY HEALTH INSURANCE TO COVER MY SESSIONS?
Unfortunately, that is not possible as I am not contracted with international insurance companies. You have to pay directly out of your pocket.
HOW ARE PAYMENTS MADE?
Payments are made at the end of each session using PayPal or by wire transfer.
HOW MANY SESSIONS CAN I EXPECT TO ATTEND IN ORDER TO SOLVE MY ISSUE?
There is no definitive answer to this question. If you are trying to make a significant change in yourself, at least ten sessions are usually necessary. If you want to consult a single ad-hoc situation, two or three sessions may be able to help you. Many of my clients book an initial session or two to discuss some specific situation, and then decide to continue working with me long term, aiming for deeper self-knowledge and greater benefit.
